When is the best time to replace your boiler?

If your boiler is getting on in years, the temptation is to nurse it through one more winter and deal with it when it finally gives up. The best time to replace a boiler is before you actually need to, and for most West London homes that means the warmer months rather than the depths of winter.

Here's the problem with waiting. Boilers almost always fail when they're working hardest, which is the middle of winter. When that happens you're suddenly without heating and hot water, often with young children or older relatives in the house, and you're forced into a rushed decision on the coldest week of the year, when every heating engineer in the area is flat out. Plan it in summer and the whole thing changes. There's no emergency, so you can take your time over which boiler genuinely suits your home rather than grabbing whatever can be fitted fastest.
